Medical Coding Specialist
Full-time Medical Coding Specialist to apply the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes, in accordance with Standards of Ethical Coding set forth the AHIMA, to individual patient health information for data retrieval, analysis, and accurate claims processing and billing. Hybrid work (both onsite and remote), this position will report to HIM Manager. Duties and assignments will include, but note be limited to, extracting info from patient records to assign ICD-10, CPT, and MNCPC codes for processing and billing; interacting with attending physicians to clarify documentation for coding purposes; assisting in development of reporting tools to identify, track, and resolve denials; tracking and following patient treatment for coding and billing from start to finish; assisting in efforts to create clean claims and ensure timely claims; and serving as a resource to clinical staff, providers, payers, and management for questions regarding coding. Successful candidate will also perform other routine office procedures. Must have a minimum of HS diploma or GED in addition to certification in medical coding or ability to demonstrate adequate proof of coding capability with the agreement to work toward coding certification within one year of hire.
