Pre and Post-Operative Registered Nurse - Surgery Department
Candidate chosen to fill this position will be responsible for providing direct and individualized preoperative and post-operative nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles in addition to general nursing care. Duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: consulting and coordination with HCT members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate preoperative and postoperative patient care plans; serve as the communication liaison to family and members of the OR Team; taking and monitoring patient vital signs; responding to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol; monitor patients physical and emotional well-being through the OR care continuum; prepare and administer prescribed medications (orally, subcutaneously, through an IV) and documenting such; provide basic bedside pre-operative and post-operative patient care in a compassionate and respectful manner; and serve as patient educator regarding post-treatment home care needs. Qualified candidates will have a current, unencumbered MO RN license with a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in OR arena, have current BLS, PALS, and ACLS certifications, and have hands-on training in the use of aseptic techniques to prevent infection. Excellent patient and co-worker communication, organizational, time management, and computer/EMR skills a must. This is a part-time position that could lead to full time.
